『88 Japanese Wisdom』に込めた思い(『88 Japanese Wisdom』にこめたおもい)

このたび、私(わたし)の初(はじ)めての本(ほん)『88 Japanese Wisdom: For Business, Leadership, and Life』を出版(しゅっぱん)しました。

The Story Behind 88 Japanese Wisdom

I’m excited to share that I recently published my first book, 88 Japanese Wisdom: For Business, Leadership, and Life. The book introduces words and ideas that have been passed down through Japanese culture, sharing them with readers in English.

The book is more than a collection of explanations of Japanese sayings. Through expressions such as ichigo ichie (treasure each encounter), tekizai tekisho (the right person in the right place), and mottainai (a sense of regret over waste), I wanted to share some of the culture and values behind these words. I’ve also included lessons and reflections from my own experiences in business, leadership, and everyday life.

Many Japanese expressions carry a deeper meaning within just a few words. Simply translating them into another language doesn’t always capture the background, feeling, or way of thinking behind them. That’s why I wanted to go beyond the meaning of each word and explore the ideas they represent, along with stories and experiences from my own life.

I didn’t write this book to tell people what they should learn or how they should live. Instead, I hope readers will connect the words with their own experiences and come across a passage that makes them think, “This applies to me, too.” Writing the book also gave me an opportunity to look back on my own experiences and reflect on the ideas that have shaped me.

This was my first experience publishing a book, and I worked through each step myself, from writing and editing to publishing. When I finally held the finished book in my hands, I felt a great sense of joy and accomplishment knowing that I had been able to share Japanese words and wisdom with readers around the world in English.

I hope this book will inspire those who are interested in Japanese culture, as well as those who enjoy reflecting on their work and life. I hope you’ll find a few words that resonate with you and perhaps come back to them from time to time, finding ways to bring their wisdom into your everyday life.

Thank you for reading, and I look forward to sharing more with you in our next newsletter.
