みなさん、干支(えと)をご存知(ぞんじ)ですか。昔(むかし)中国(ちゅうごく)では時間(じかん)を示(しめ)すために木星(もくせい)(月(つき)の横(よこ)に見(み)える明(あか)るい惑星(わくせい))を使(つか)っており、また木星(もくせい)は太陽(たいよう)の周(まわ)りを12年(ねん)かけて回(まわ)るので、1年(ねん)ごとに動物(どうぶつ)にちなんだ名前(なまえ)をつけたそうです。それが、「子(ね)(ね＝ねずみ)、丑(うし)(うし)、寅(とら)(とら)、卯(う)(う＝うさぎ)、辰(たつ)(たつ＝龍(りゅう)(りゅう))、巳(み)(み＝へび)、午(うま)(うま)、未(ひつじ)(ひつじ)、申(さる)(さる)、酉(とり(とり＝にわとり)、戌(いぬ)(いぬ)、亥(い)(い＝いのしし)」です。また、昔(むかし)は一(いち)日(にち)も同様(どうよう)に12に分割(ぶんかつ)されていました。

来年(らいねん)は寅年(とらどし)になります。寅(とら)は言(い)うまでもなく強(つよ)く活動的(かつどうてき)な動物(どうぶつ)です。来年(らいねん)が皆様(みなさま)にとって活動的(かつどうてき)で良(よ)い年(とし)になりますようにお祈(いの)り申(もう)し上(あ)げます。今年(ことし)も一年(ねん)ニュースレターをお読(よ)みいただきましてありがとうございました。来年(らいねん)もがんばりますので応援(おうえん)よろしくお願(ねが)いします。





Do you know what the Chinese zodiac is? In ancient China, they used Jupiter to commemorate time. Jupiter takes about 12 years to go through the Western zodiac, so they used an animal to represent each year. Plus, the ancient Chinese used to divide the day into 12 parts as well. The animals they use are the rat, the ox, the tiger, the rabbit, the dragon, the snake, the horse, the sheep, the monkey, the rooster, the dog, and the pig.
